The Northern Rivers Bioregion generally takes in the river catchments from the Tweed in the north to the mighty Clarence which forms the southern boundary of the Bundjalung Nation. The Richmond, Wilson, Brunswick and Tweed Rivers are also refered to as the Rainbow Region. A global hotspot of subtropical biodiversity, the region contains world-heritage listed rainforests and magnificient beaches. The region is a focal point for sustainable lifestyle, organic production, renewable energy, community development, social experimentation, performing and visual arts, and innovative enterprise since the early 1970s. |
