2015 Last year of APT with PCA

Djanbung training centre and PCA team

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – Last chance for APT full-time courses with Robyn Francis at Djanbung Gardens

2015 will be the last year that PCA at Djanbung Gardens will be offering full-time accredited courses for the Certificate IV and Diploma of Permaculture. This has not been an easy decision, and we hope that anyone who’s been procrastinating about taking the plunge grabs this unique last opportunity to do this full-time training with us.

Here at Djanbung Gardens we’ve been successfully conducting the Accredited Permaculture Training (APT) for the past 10 years. Many of our graduates have gone on to do amazing work with exceptional competence and confidence. What’s so special about these full-time courses is that students have been able to dive deeper into permaculture to gain the practical skills and in-depth knowledge to design, implement and manage permaculture systems and projects, and gain practical experience through all the seasons, all well beyond the limited scope of a 2-week intensive PDC or short internship. And the bonus is doing this training at one permaculture’s most prestigious education centres in a living learn-scape of permaculture in practice.

The APT courses, being Austudy-approved, have enabled eligible students to receive the government student’s living allowance while studying permaculture full-time. Course fees have been kept low and affordable to cover the main costs of delivery, however maintaining these affordable fees requires a lot of unpaid voluntary work complying with the load of bureaucracy and red-tape involved in providing formal accredited training. The 2015 last-chance APT courses will be the offered at the same price as the 2013-14 courses.

Robyn Francis, the main trainer of the APT at Djanbung, was a key member of the national team that designed and developed the APT for accreditation in 2003, and has developed the excellent APT program and course resources at Djanbung Gardens. Post 2015, Robyn will continue to offer PDCs, short courses and professional development in permaculture at Djanbung Gardens and will be more available to meet the international demand for permaculture training, especially in China and the Asia-Pacific region. She will also offer consulting services to RTOs in Australia to develop and deliver APT courses of excellence, and publish her course materials to support these organisations and their students.
