Master a traditional craft with these special half-day masterclass workshops on Sunday August 11 following the Forgotten Arts Fair (August 10).
Pre-Registration Essential • All workshops are 3 hours

Morning Workshops Start 9.30am

BLACKSMITHING 1
An introduction to the forge, tools used and specific forging techniques with Mark Cooper (Bentley Forge) where participants will produce a fire poker. Skills include tapering and bending of hot metal Limited to 6 participants. $65 (includes materials)

HERBAL FIRST AID & Apothecary Garden
Learn to make simple herbal preparations and ointments for common ailments and first aid using common herbs and medicinal weeds with Robyn Francis. $55 Register Here

Afternoon Workshops 1 or 1.30pm

COILED BASKETRY starts 1pm
Learn a variety of techniques and stitches used in weaving coiled baskets, one of the oldest, most diverse and widely practiced weaving techniques used traditionally by cultures all around the world with Nicole Raward and Kim Tait. $65 (includes materials) Register Here

BLACKSMITHING 2 starts 1pm
Learn forging techniques with Brendan Esposito (‘A Tinker’s Cuss – Uki) , such as metal selection, shaping of metal, filing, basic hardening and tempering as you make a functioning chisel to take home. Limited to 6 participants. $65 (includes materials)

CELTIC WISDOM starts 1.30pm
Explore the rich cultural heritage and philosophy of our Celtic ancestors and wisdom of the Druids within the context of contemporary living and self-reliance, adapting it to the Australian landscape, its seasonal cycles and spirit of place, with Robyn Francis. $55 Register Here
