June 12, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All of us at Permaculture College Australia welcome you to join us on June 12 for the 2010 Djanbung Gardens Open Day!  Our theme this year is “Practical Solutions for Eco-friendly Living and Design”, which brings together many aspects of permaculture from the home and garden to the community and planet.

There will be tours around the gardens and property to orient you with practical examples of sustainable food production, animal systems, composting, “waste” and water treatment, alternative technologies and buildings.  Students will be creatively presenting on a number of topics as well as hosting workshops and static displays.  Topics include no-dig gardens, composting, worm farming, food forests & fungi, natural pest management, scarecrows, paper making, conscious power consumption, “peak everything”, GE & seed saving, mangrove maintenance, and more!

To feed all of the excitement throughout the day we will be serving up an array of seasonal savories and sweets, much of which will be fresh from the gardens.  Plenty of food for thought!

We have experienced so much growth in the gardens and in ourselves this year and are looking forward to sharing a day of community, skill-sharing, career advice, and harvest celebration.  Please feel free to bring questions, stories, and friends and come on out between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 12 to Djanbung Gardens, 74 Cecil Street in Nimbin.
